Your wedding
WEEKEND at came

Came invites you to make a weekend of your wedding. Share its timeless charm with your family and friends as if it were your own.

Friday

  • We welcome you from 12 noon on the Friday and we recommend your house guests join you around 2pm where everyone is greeted with a glass of fizz from The House!

  • The team are on hand to help with luggage and get you and your guests settled

  • You’ll then have some time to relax with your house guests and enjoy The House and Gardens. Ask us if you would like us to arrange anything special for you and your guests such as a traditional English cream tea or sandwich platters.

  • If you are hosting a civil ceremony at Came, you will be offered a ceremony rehearsal around 3pm with your bridal party

  • The evening is yours to spend as you wish. You might like to host an informal supper in the Courtyard. How about a sunset dinner at the front of The House. Perhaps you would prefer a more formal welcome dinner in the Drawing Room or canapés out on the Terrace. Came is also really close to some great traditional English country pubs and restaurants if you prefer to dine out. Speak with Melanie or Danielle to talk through ideas.

The Glass Domed Conservatory

Understated Luxury

Also called The Orangery. This stunning structure was an addition to the House – added in 1840. You might see the similarities in the design if you know Covent Garden Market or Syon Park, London. All were designed by the same Architect – read more here.

Licensed for 120 (with option to add another 45 guests to make up to 165 by using the Morning Room which opens onto the Conservatory)

A glorious outside options using the rear façade of the House as your backdrop. A very elegant place to marry.

The Rear Garden Terrace

There are other ceremony options for unique weddings and smaller numbers. The Drawing Room is beautiful for an elegant Autumn or winter wedding or something more intimate. Please get in touch to discuss.

Blessings at
St Peter's Came

Blessings at St Peter's, Came

If you live too far afield, or are too time pressed to establish a ‘qualifying connection’ with a local church, then a blessing at St Peter’s makes the perfect alternative. Whether you prefer to have your legal ceremony at Came House, or elsewhere, what could be more dreamy than a church ceremony followed by a short stroll to your reception?

St Peter’s, Came is the quintessential country squire’s church, dating from the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. The Revd William Barnes (1801-86), esteemed Dorset dialect poet and friend to Thomas Hardy, was rector here and is buried in the churchyard.

For couples wishing to legally marry in church, please be aware that you will need to establish a ‘qualifying connection’ with the church of your choice. This usually involves interviews with the vicar and regular worship during the six month lead to your wedding. Below is a selection of Churches local to Came:

Your Drinks Reception

Enjoy the rear Terrace for drinks and canapés. Your photographer will be spoiled for choice with locations for photographs in the gardens. You can add in live music -string quartet, harpist, singing duo all sound great in the gardens. For wet weather drinks receptions the House will be fully open for inside space – the Drawing Room, Saloon and Morning Room depending on numbers.
For Church weddings or where you are not making use of the Conservatory for your ceremony, why not use this for a cocktail bar set up or a chill out lounge? Perhaps host your stand up speeches here if you would like to get them out of the way early or perhaps a cake cutting here under the Dome before your guests are seated for the wedding breakfast – all beautiful!

YOUR WEDDING BREAKFAST & PARTY

Stories from Eros Photography

Your guests will be invited to take their seats for the wedding breakfast and will take a short and magical walk through the Italian Garden ready for the next part of your wedding day to unfold. Your caterers / stylists / florists will have been completing the set up secretly without your guests seeing it all happen! Our beautiful marquee is located in the “Secret Garden” called so because your guests wont see it whilst its all being set up during the ceremony and drinks reception. Far enough away from prying eyes but just a short walk to reach.

Our marquee is a bespoke traditional marquee with three beautiful timber poles measuring 12m x 24m (large enough to cater for x 180 for dining) with a hidden catering tent (6m x 9m) and walk in chiller for your drinks. High peaked roof. White festoon lighting (on dimmers) and fully equipped with a sound system for background dinner music and mics for speeches. An Oak dance floor for up to x 200 guests and a large stage to host anything up to a 10 piece show band. Panoramic windows on three sides all of which can come up on those balmy summer days. Bespoke white bar for your evening bar service. We even feature beautiful bespoke design and made luxury marquee loos
